Hijab Quotes – Assalamualaikum QOI readers! Today I would like to go in-depth on Hijab Quotes, particularly focusing on the best of our Muslim women, the importance of modesty and how Hijab has evolved to become one of the most popular modesty wear among our Muslimah sisters today.
Islam on Women
The status of women in society has been subjected to debate in different societies.
Despite the negative light that has been told in mainstream Western media, women in Islam has always been held with the highest regard. Spiritual equality between men and women is explained in Surat al-Azhab (33:35):
Verily, men who surrender unto God, and women who surrender, and men who believe and women who believe, and men who obey and women who obey, and men who speak the truth and women who speak the truth…and men who give alms and women who give alms, and men who fast and women who fast, and men who guard their modesty and women who guard (their modesty), and men who remember God much and women who remember – God hath prepared for them forgiveness and a vast reward.
Basically, Islam’s fundamental view of both genders is that, humanity has been created in a pair, as mentioned in Surat al-Dhariyat 51:49.
In fact, the Quran has dedicated a whole chapter about women, Surah an-Nisa (“The Women“), which explained about their equality in roles, duties and rights.
Modesty
Modesty and shyness play an important role between the affairs of the Creator and His believer. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) encouraged modesty, in which he mentioned:
Indeed from the teachings of the first prophets which has reached you is, ‘If you do not have shyness, then do as you please.” (Al-Bukhari)
and also:
I advise you to be shy toward God, the Exalted, in the same way that you are shy toward a pious man from your people.
Modesty also does not limit to women, but also men when it comes to lowering our gaze. As stated in the Quran:
Tell the believing men to lower their gaze and be modest. That is purer for them. Lo! God is Aware of what they do. And tell the believing women to lower their gaze and be modest, and to display of their adornment only that which is apparent, and to draw their veils over their chests, and not to reveal their adornment.” (Quran 24:30)
Here, we can we see that being shy of a stranger’s gaze is one of the driving forces behind modesty in dress. It is mandated to lower your gaze so as to avoid sins such as extra-marital or pre-marital sex.
Today, we have seen many online stores and shops popping up which have further popularize the Muslim women fashion wear from hijab, jilbab and abaya. These are good news, indicating that there are more women who are slowly adapting it as part of their Muslim identity. At the end of the day, these modesty wears are created for our women to be better Muslims and bring everyone closer to Allah SWT.
